The Lone Strøyberg Scholarship 2025-26: International Business Leadership

The Lone Strøyberg Scholarship is delighted to offer a fully funded one-year work experience for young Danish BA and/or MA students, or recent graduates as the “Lone Strøyberg Scholar 2025-26”. 

We are committed to providing talented young Danes with the skills they need for future careers, fostering a supportive commercial environment that promotes their growth while addressing the ongoing demand for talent and understanding that strengthens trade relationships between Denmark and the UK. 

The chosen scholar will be placed at the Danish-UK Association (DKUK), providing an opportunity to immerse themselves in a vibrant community of corporate members and an extensive network of international stakeholders. Under expert guidance, the scholar will engage in meaningful dialogues with business leaders, facilitating discussions that align with their interests and resonate within the business community. The scholar for the 2025-26 term will not only cultivate valuable international relationships but also enhance their business acumen, paving the way for future opportunities and collaboration. 

Applicants are encouraged to relate their interests to one or more industry sectors or functional areas, such as but not exclusive to:

  • Maritime

  • Transport

  • Renewables

  • Professional Services

  • Life Sciences

  • Hospitality

  • Finance and Investment

  • Sustainability Management

  • Change Management

  • People Management 

  • IT


Scholar role:  

  • Facilitate innovative discussions, creating direct and impactful benefits for DKUK members and wider business community. 

  • Develop, organise, and execute network activities, such as stakeholder events or “round tables” that bring together external thought leaders and community representatives, within defined budget. 

  • Develop, organise, and execute agenda and strategy of DKUK focus groups e.g., Net Positive Group, Female Leadership Group, or Private Equity Group, in close coordination with group leaders.  

  • Monitor trends among members, other Nordic Chambers of Commerce, and international organisations to identify challenges and/or new business opportunities. 

  • Actively contribute to the DKUK’s Young Professional (YP) Group, facilitating discussions on among other international business and leadership. 

  • Evaluate and report on outcomes of the Scholarship projects and activities with insights for the half-year and year-end Scholarship report. 

  • Time period: The scholar is expected to start the placement in late August/early September 2025 and to finish end July 2026.  

  • Hybrid working: We offer hybrid working with the opportunity to work partly from Club Quarters Trafalgar Square, with members, and if you wish from your accomodation.


Scholar benefits:  

  • Salary, national insurance, and statutory pension, paid via placement employer DKUK.  

  • All costs relating to Employment Entry VISA, including Immigrant Health Surcharge. 

  • Travel to and from the UK – two return trips during scholarship term within reason.  

  • 25 days’ holiday plus UK national bank holidays.  

  • Potential business-related short course, e.g., the 2024-25 Scholar undertook an 8 week online course in Business Sustainability Management, offered by Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Management, Cambridge University.  

 

Scholar selection principles:  

Candidates from Denmark, with a minimum of a relevant ongoing bachelor’s degree, are encouraged to apply. We seek candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit who are highly motivated, self-starting, hardworking, ambitious, and a team player. Good grades are important but not essential.  

The applicant must also demonstrate evidence of commercial understanding in relation to their studies, work, and extracurricular activities. 

The application should include:  

  • 1 page cover letter stating your specific area of interest, your strengths in brief, and vision to how this helps launch your career plans. 

  • CV – max 2 pages, incl. 2 suggested contacts of reference we may call upon.

Interview process: 

Successful applicants will be called for first round of interviews via Zoom within the first 2 weeks of December.  

A second interview round of the finalists will take place via Zoom during the month of January 2025. For the second interview, we would like you to visualise for us a project in relation to your chosen industry sector and/or cross-functional discipline that you would feel passionate about and like to drive forward if you are the applicant awarded the Lone Strøyberg Scholarship 2025-26.  

Show us what really excites you and give us a clear direction. We do not expect a full-on report nor an in-depth solution. We are looking for you to tell us about your vision of the project, with a more detailed narrative to how you will go about it, and what it will bring the people/companies involved as well as yourself. 

 

Caveat: 

The exact starting time in the UK is subject to VISA entry approval. Once approved, it is envisaged the scholar will find their own way to the UK, finding suitable accommodation, and start getting acquainted with London and the Danish-UK community. The scholarship company and DKUK are ready to support. 

 

First day of work is 1st of September, 2025.
